Life on Shuffle: A Journey Through My iPod

Looking for music suggestions!

I love making playlists, especially ones with themes like pissed-off punk to angrily jam to, quiet acoustic to help me fall asleep or chill out, etc. This blossoming crush on Bob has made me start a new love playlist. So I want to know your favorite love songs: ones about crushes, ones about love, etc. Nothing about heartbreak, because its all sunshine and roses for now =)

What are your favorite songs about love?

Only In My Dreams: Bands/Artists I’m DYING to See In 2012

This is my list of the bands/artists I would love to see in 2012, and what I’m dying to hear them play live!

In alphabetical order:

  • Alkaline Trio-I saw them play years ago at the Tweeter Center (which doesn’t even exist anymore!) with My Chemical Romance. To give you an idea of how long ago that was, I was in high school and MCR had just broken out onto the scene with Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. It was INCREDIBLE, and I’m DYING to see them again!! Dying To Hear: ”Blue Carolina”, “Every Thug Needs A Lady”, “This Could Be Love”, “Calling All Skeletons”.
  • Bright Eyes-I’ve been enthralled by Conor for years now. Not an obsessive fan, but I certainly recognize and admire his…genius (for lack of a better word). His music is just so emotionally raw, like he just opens an emotional vein every time he writes or sings. People compare his concerts to a religious experience, and I want to experience it for myself!! Dying To Hear: ”Bowl of Oranges”, “Road to Joy”, “Don’t Know When But a Day Is Gonna Come”, “Nothing Gets Crossed Out”, “Waste of Paint”.
  • City and Colour-Dallas was in Philly in December, but it was just bad timing for me. I cannot explain how depressed that made me. I only started listening to Dallas this summer because my friend recommended his stuff to me but I am OBSESSED. He just sings what I feel, and I don’t care how cheesy/obsessive/weird that sounds, cuz its true! Dying To Hear: ”Sleeping Sickness”, “Death of Me”, “Silver and Gold”, “Little Hell”, “Northern Wind”.
  • Coldplay-My best friend Laura and I are already planning to see Coldplay this summer and I cannot put into words how PUMPED I am!! (She and I are like musical soulmates <3) I took my dad to see Coldplay on the Viva la Vida tour as a father’s day gift, and it was just AWESOMESAUCE!!! I am loving Mylo Xyloto sooooo much and I am PUMPED to see them again!!! Dying To Hear: ”Shiver”, “Green Eyes”, “Rainy Day” (not a chance in hell…), “Politik”, “Charlie Brown”, “Paradise”.
  • Dan Andriano-Dan is the bassist/writer/singer of Alkaline Trio but recently started a solo tour to promote Hurricane Season under the name Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room. I am obsessed with the album, and almost all of my favorite Alkaline Trio songs are written by him. I would love to see him play <3 Dying To Hear: ”It’s Gonna Rain All Day”, “From This Oil Can”.
  • Jimmy Eat World-I have loved them for sooooo long and have yet to see them! They’re one of those bands that I will probably always love (along with Coldplay and Alkaline Trio). They’ve been a part of my life for so long and I hope I can see them live this year!! Dying To Hear: ”Anais”, “Sweetness”, “My Best Theory”, “Stop”, “Cut”, “Closer”.
  • Manchester Orchestra-I was heartbroken when I ended up missing the 11/11/11 show this year. When I went to the Honda Civic Tour show in NY w some friends we missed the whole set except the tail end of “Pride”. I was soooo upset, and even more upset when I had to skip their Philly show too. I WILL see them!!!!! Dying To Hear: ”Wolves At Night”, “Now That You’re Home”, “Golden Ticket”, “Pensacola”, “April Fool”, “I’d Rather Have”, basically all of Mean Everything to Nothing. =D
  • New Politics-I first heard/saw them when they opened for The Spill Canvas for their Philly show. They’re from Denmark but moved to Brooklyn some time ago. I can’t really describe them or their sound. Their motto says it best: “Fuck it.” =D Dying To Hear: ”My Love”, “New Generation”, “Love Is A Drug”, “Yeah Yeah Yeah”.
  • Ra Ra Riot-another band that has been in my area at bad times that I’m dying to see. Their energy is INCREDIBLE and I just know seeing them will be such an awesome time. Dying To Hear: ”You And I Know”, “Too Dramatic”, “Ghost Under Rocks”, “Can You Tell”, “Oh, La”.
  • The Spill Canvas-they’re back!!! =D I saw them during their last tour in a small venue and it was AMAZEBALLS. Now that they’re FINALLY back I want to see them again!! Dying To Hear (it’s A LOT): ”Dust Storm”, “Natalie Marie and the 1cc”, “Staplegunned”, “Lust a Prima Vista”, “Polygraph! Right Now”, “Lay It On Me’, “Reckless Abandonment”, “Valiant”, “Caterpillars”, “Bracelets”, “So Much”, “3685”.

Wow, it’s been a long time…

so to make up for it Im gonna post my favorite videos and my favorite songs from my favorite bands =)

Mylo Xyloto is #1 in all 35 iTunes stores.

Maybe there is still hope for humanity, lol…

Hugh Laurie “Battle of Jericho” Le Trianon Paris 11.05.2011 (by lagrandelili87)

Obsession #3: Hugh Laurie singing this song. I sang the Moses Hogan arrangement when I was in honors chorus in high school. (which I will try and find because its epic!)

Watching Hugh Laurie do, well, pretty much anything, totally turns me on, lol…

Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall (by ColdplayVEVO)

New Obsession #2: this song & its video. I know, I said I hate this song, but it was quickly grown on me.

Coldplay - Paradise (by ColdplayVEVO)

New Obsession #1-this video.

Ive loved this song ever since it was released, but this video just put it over the top. WATCHITNOW.

I love driving to school on a GORGEOUS day. Then I can turn my radio up SUPEROBNOXIOUSLYLOUD and sing/scream along to my tunes :) today I “sang” Coldplay’s Paradise, Viva La Vida, and ETIAW, as well as Sleeping Sickness, The Death of Me, and Casey’s Song by City and Colour. I know I’ve been sucking in my lack of posts, but I’m planning on posting some videos ASAP :)

Life On Shuffle: 10/19

Long time, no post! I’ve either been studying or sleeping on the train lately (or driving into Philly). But today I’m doing a full-on shuffle-including classical, jazz, and weird stuff that I haven’t put into a genre.

ONE. MANEATER-NELLY FURTADO. I don’t even have this whole album-I just bought this one track cuz it’s FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC. This is the best song to put on when your stomping through the streets when some guy treats you like shit and you’re just thinking “bitch, youre not good enough for me anyway.” or whenever you just need to get pumped up and into that “yeah, check me out. I’m hot shit!” mentality lmao…
